张建华教授本科毕业于扬州大学，1988年在英国Lancaster大学获得博士学位，曾任香港浸会大学生物系主任，现任农业生物技术国家重点实验室主任 （香港中文大学），香港中文大学讲座教授，香港中文大学深圳研究院重点实验室主任(孔雀计划)，长期从事作物响应与适应土壤水分胁迫的研究工作，发表在国 际上有影响力的文章多篇，现担任Journal of Experimental Botany 和Food and Energy Security 杂志的副主编，Functional Plant Biology 、The Crop Journal 、Journal of Integrative Plant Biology 等多个国际期刊的领域编辑。
